Coils and Handlers
Armstrong provides a variety of air handlers and coils to meet your application needs.
Air handlers are the indoor section of a heat pump or air conditioning system, often placed in the basement or attic. As the name implies, these units essentially move the conditioned air throughout your home, and contain a coil inside the air handler to transfer heat.
In other applications, the furnace is the actual air moving device, and a coil is attached to the furnace for heat transfer capabilities. So you may have a furnace with a coil and an outdoor air conditioner as a complete heating and cooling system.
Coils and air handlers can be installed in a variety of configurations - horizontal, counterflow or upflow - depending on your application. ADI can advise you on the proper configuration for your home heating and air conditioning system.
Compak
The Compak package unit comes in gas heat/electric cooling (PGE), heat pump (PHP) and electric (PCE) versions. Additionally, it is available in 10 and 12 SEER versions. Your Armstrong dealer will help you select the Compak package unit with the right capa cities and efficiencies for your home. ADI can even install an Armstrong Gas Furnace in your home or business. Armstrong has 6 units, one perfect for you!
The U.S. Department of Energy has in recent years required that all furnaces meet increasingly stringent efficiency standards. Armstrong has consistently surpassed these standards, employing the most advanced technology available to manufacture home heating systems that lead the industry in fuel efficiency.
The term relates to how much of the total amount of heat generated by the furnace actually heats the home - and doesn't go up the flue as wasted energy. Your furnace has an Annualized Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating, which is determined by standard government tests. This rating is expressed as a percentage. The higher the percentage, the more efficient your furnace...and the lower your heating bills.
Most furnaces manufactured 10 or more years ago have very low efficiency ratings - about 60% AFUE. (That's a 40% waste of energy!) This is well below the 78% AFUE currently mandated by the federal government...and far below the isolated combustion efficiencies - over 95% - provided by the Armstrong ULTRA® high-efficiency furnace.
All ULTRA models are affordably priced. And they're engineered to squeeze more heat out of less fuel.
